The majority of NPK fertilisers belong to the large family of mineral fertilisers, i.e. they are produced by the chemical industry.
NPK fertilisers take their name from the chemical elements of which they are composed (nitrogen with the symbol N, phosphorus with the symbol P and potassium with the symbol K). To be labelled NPK, these fertilisers must contain at least 3% of each chemical element.
However, some processes allow to obtain nitrogen (horn and bone), phosphorus (phosphates) and potassium (guano, beet) in natural ways.
The nitrogenous fertilizer with high efficiency
Calcium ammonium nitrate (CAN), the granulated nitrogen fertilizer, guarantees the secure supply of plants with nitrogen. The combination of ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen makes CAN an all-rounder for all fertilizer measures. The excellent granulation and specific surface coating guarantee that it can be stored optimally and has very good spreading properties with working widths of over 40 m.
